Depart the U.S. for Europe and your connection to Africa.
Arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Meet your Ancient Wild Africa Tour Guide and transfer to Arusha for lunch and then on to Ngorongoro Crater, one of the fabled geologic formations of Africa. This collapsed volcano, or caldera, creates a lush Garden of Eden environment for a large and diverse wildlife population. Your lodge hugs the rim of the 11,800-foot-deep crater. Each room has a spectacular view of the plains and forest below.

Serengeti National Park
During the heat of the day, much of the wildlife rests under shady acacia trees, in thickets or in underground burrows. You’ll mirror the animal behavior with early morning and late afternoon game drives. Under the noon-day sun, you may lounge at the pool. Or just take in the panorama in a hand-carved rocking chair on your private veranda. Very civilized, indeed!

Tarangire National Park
Morning and afternoon game drives. The most striking feature of Tarangire is its many baobab trees. Their colossal forms are matched by their utility. Baobabs provide shade, shelter, water and food. They may also be the oldest life form in Africa, living thousands of years. An Arabian legend tells us that “the devil plucked up the baobab, thrust its branches into the earth and left its roots in the air.” Hence, this useful provider is known as the upside down tree.
